Clem, the Portwright operator mascot in Seabee fatigues, throwing a shaka on a beachhead home port — a Navy ship in the harbor, a 'Home Port · Built in Port · Proven at Sea' signpost, a tiki hooch, palms, and the Portwright 'We Build. We Fight.' emblem

We build software that holds the line.

Portwright is an engineering studio and consultancy for teams that can't afford hand-wavy demos. We ship production software and AI you can actually audit — then we harden it and prove it holds.

What we do

Three things, done to operator grade.

Tech-first, blue-collar work ethic, government-grade rigor. We don't just draw the architecture diagram — we run the line.

Build

Full-stack product engineering with auth, RBAC, and safe defaults from day one.

AI

AI systems

Tiered routing, supervised agent swarms, and fine-tuning — AI you can audit, not a black box.

Secure & compliant

Hardening, compliance scanning & reporting, and tamper-evident provenance for data and pipelines.

Proof, not promises

We've built the hardest version of the problem.

It started as a weekend project. We kept slamming into the same gnarly problems in EDI claim processing — the ones the industry had quietly filed under "that's just how it is" — so one weekend we set out to crack them ourselves. That hack turned into something we didn't see coming: a complete, government-security-grade claims-processing suite. And it doesn't stop at claims — the engine speaks any X12 transaction set, not just healthcare EDI. A few of the pieces:

SNIP

Government-grade validation

A multi-level EDI/X12 validation engine — integrity through implementation-guide — with a loop-aware parser and conformant machine acknowledgments.

FHIR

Standards interoperability

Bidirectional FHIR R4 mapping (CARIN & Da Vinci profiles) between legacy transaction formats and modern resources.

Tamper-evident provenance

Deterministic record identity and an append-only, Merkle-proof journal — a cryptographically provable, audit-ready history of every transformation.

Benchmark
0.0475s

Parses, validates, and projects a 517 KB file of 3,100 claims in 0.0475 seconds. Built for throughput, not demos.

Shipping & logistics — port it for your stack

EDI isn't just one industry's problem. We're looking to partner with shipping & logistics operators who want to port this engine to their own transaction sets and workflows — same speed, same rigor, your formats. If your operation runs on EDI, let's talk.

Forward-deployed
Seabee ethos · We Build, We Fight

Set up the hooch. Hold the beachhead.

Like the Seabees who hit the beach to build the base before the mission needs it, we make landfall on the hard problem, stand up a working camp, and harden the position. No staging server in a faraway data center — your home port, set up where the work actually happens. Construimus, Batuimus.

Make landfall

We meet the problem on the ground — your stack, your formats, your constraints — not a sanitized demo.

Stand up the camp

A working system, fast: auth, RBAC, and safe defaults wired in from the first plank.

Harden the position

Then we lock it down — compliance, provenance, and proof it holds under fire.

Open source

We publish the guardrails.
